Where to See Christmas Lighting Show?
We wanted to take a drive and visit a place to see holiday Christmas lighting, so we made it our final destination for the day. We started searching for places, and suddenly, Elora, Ontario, popped up, meeting our desire for the day.
We found that Elora is a nice place to see holiday lighting. We watched some videos of the town and discovered that people from nearby cities come to visit the place. The holiday lighting show is just a 1.5-hour drive from Toronto, Ontario, and about 2 hours from London, Ontario—a great spot to watch holiday lights and special displays arranged for the season.
The town had lots of Christmas trees lit up, which were amazing to see! It also has many beautiful shops of different kinds for visitors. The Christmas lighting is available around the last week of December and usually lasts until 9:30 pm. However, the shops close earlier, so if you want to enjoy both, I’d recommend coming a little earlier.
We didn’t know about the different timings, so we didn’t get a chance to visit the shops, but we saw the lights. Actually, we hadn’t planned to visit the shops, so it was a win-win situation. However, for those who want to visit the shops, arriving earlier is the key.
It’s a great place to spend 2-3 hours, take a break, and enjoy a refreshing drive and all the lights. There are also many places to stay in this beautiful small town. Elora has been called Ontario’s most beautiful village anytime of the year, so we definitely should visit again to fully appreciate its beauty.
There were ample parking spaces. We just parked in one of the lots. Elora downtown parking is free for up to 3 hours. We went there around 6 pm, but the website mentioned parking until 7 pm. Regardless, we saw many cars parked on both sides of the road. Since we didn’t want to park on the roadside, we looked for a parking lot and found one.
We walked around the beautiful downtown walkway surrounded by lights, and it was awesome. There were small buildings across the town, all lit up beautifully. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my boots and felt a bit cold after an hour of dream-walking through the lights. However, I promised myself to come back and stay longer to visit the shops (as they were closed this time).
Christmas Lighting Show in London, ON
While driving to Canadian Tire to buy some stuff, my friend called about a lighting show happening just a 30-minute drive from London, at Fanshawe Conservation Park.
I searched about the light show, and it seemed really great. It’s a drive-through lighting display that lets you enjoy the lights while staying in your car.
We can call it a Christmas lighting show as well. There were Christmas trees lit up beautifully, and without any delay, we went to check it out. As the organizers suggested, we turned off our car headlights during the show to avoid disrupting the experience for others. Some people missed that info and kept their headlights on, which was not helpful for others. So, I’d recommend turning off your headlights to ensure everyone can enjoy the lights uninterrupted!
Whoever is driving, I suggest driving slowly—around 3 to 5 km/h—so you don’t miss the details of the light show. The displays included everything from prehistoric dinosaur lights to the Statue of Liberty and more!
Tickets are sold per vehicle, not per person, which is great!
- Standard vehicle (weekdays): $34 + tax
- Standard vehicle (any day): $38 + tax
- Limo/party bus: $68 + tax
- Bus: $176 + tax
I’ve shared pictures here to give you a preview of what to expect. Also, check out our Instagram page for videos of the show, as some displays deserved a video!
So, why are you still here? Before the year ends, take some time to enjoy with your family and friends. Recharge yourself to tackle everything the new year brings. I really hope you enjoy the views and the magical light show!
